“Okay, to start with, he should be taller than me but not so tall so that I have to crane my neck uncomfortably to even look at him.”
“He should be older than me (of course), but no so much that there’s a tangible generation gap between us.”
“He should be good-looking but not that good-looking that I look like a hag beside him.”
“He should be intelligent but not too intelligent that he has to express concern about my lack of intelligence.”
“He should be smart but not so smart that he poses a healthy competition to a walking encyclopedia.”
“He should be independent but not so independent that he should not need me at all.”
“He should be focused for all the right reasons in life and not something as silly as the decreasing length of ladies’ skirt.”
“He should be kind, considerate and understanding but not to the whole world, and definitely not to people who do not deserve it.”
“He should be practical but not too practical that the connecting emotions are overruled.”
“He should be an optimist but not at the risk of being unrealistic.”
“He should be dominating but he should know where to draw the line between a dominating demeanor and an overbearing attitude.”
“He should be a believer in something called chemistry between two individuals (in particular me), rather that biology or physics or whatever.”
“And ya, he should not tell me to cut my hair just for the sake of something called fashion.”
One of the few times, Mom must have felt like throwing her hands up in the air thanks to her ‘difficult’ daughter. And all I was trying to do was to be funny :)! Aah...wrong time, wrong place and wrong subject!
At last, I relented at her exasperated expression and confessed, “Well......I am not sure what I want. But I am quite sure as to what I do not want!”
And to start with.....well....that will take another post altogether.

Hmmm....maybe...maybe not. And ya. welcome to the gang (once again?) :) :)!
Reading your blogs and listening to good music on my iPod - there can't be a better combination - except, may be, for the combination of Chitra and tea!
PS: Listening to "Fits You Good" by (may be) Bryan Adams
Regd "I am not sure what I want ...." I said the same things when I quit prev organisation. And I keep saying the same things over and over again when I have to make a choice.
A word of advice - it is the most crappiest of beliefs to hold on to, for we keep wandering and never reach anywhere. Honest suggestion, try to list what you want in your life partner (and of course, make a compromise).
ha ha.. good list.. I could imagine ur mom's expression ;)
