Great expectations....

Spontaneity is one thing which can make a difference to a dull and monotonous life. Acts of spontaneity are varied with respect to yourself and people around you. An unexpected smile, a good-morning wish, or a reflective moment with yourself can really make your day – so sayz SponChi :).

I am a firm believer that relationships, if developed spontaneously and not just for the heck of it, last longer. There are some people with whom …….. hmmm…..you just click – you just connect. You agree upon everything under the Sun, amazed at the similarities in thoughts, actions and emotions.

Unfortunately, with this feeling of acceptance, there’s certain amount of expectations as well. And if these expectations are not met, woe betide that person who's the cause – and this is what I discovered the previous evening.

I was on my way back home after a walk when I ran into a couple. One look at the guy and I stopped short in surprise – he looked amazingly like one of my friends. Now, I knew that this guy had flown home to attend a marriage. That he was visiting Bangalore took me by surprise. Moreover, I felt annoyed, and offended at the same time, that he had not informed me of his visit!! While these thoughts were running amok in my mind, I realized with a start I had been staring (and that too quite rudely :)). I resumed my walk after concluding that this guy was not my friend after all (tcha...what a waste of time). But not before the accompanying lady gave me a suspicious once-over and hustled the look-alike away. The jealous variety? Perhaps... :)

Now, what inspired those emotions for a guy whom I have known for barely for four months?

Jealousy ?? Nah !!

Possessiveness?? The very thought made me laugh aloud ! The only thing that I have ever been possessive about in my life (so far) are my books, music-collection and (last but not the least) food ::) !!

Expectations?? Hmmm…. Yup !! This seemed to be the right answer.

I had set my expectations a bit too high for my taste. What if my friend had really visited Bangalore? It’s not a rule that I have to be informed about his travel itinerary. For all I know, he could be here for some personal reasons. Just because I feel a great sense of comfort-level with him, the converse need not be true from his side. Just because I like him the way he his, should he be obliged to do the same? Just because the acceptance is total from my side, is it necessary that he do the same?

The end result: PraChi won !!

but dont u think that he should have given atleast a smile and a big hi if he knows u for 4 months.. O boy.. what u had was not great expectations.. this is the minimum set of expectation which we expect from a known person. check n see if that was really ur friend.. if yes, then its time to sort out a few things with him... give him a big grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.. ;)

He he he .... it was not my friend but someone who looked very much like him. Anyhow, I guess it's the level of expectation which varies. I guess mine was a tad too high :).

Very true!

//Expectations??

I guess its just nice to say life will be very beautiful when we dont expect anything from it and take whatever comes to you as a gift, but then its very human to have certain expectaions :)

Not really, it was just a train of thoughts when you saw someone who was a look alike of your friend right?
