I wish.....

“Paaaapa….look….she has become so thin.”

“Has she been eating well lately?”

“Ayyo.....poor thing! I guess her appetite’s gone for a toss. And she’s totally lost her voice....she hardly talks to me these days.”

“Sigh.....and that too it’s her first pregnancy! I wonder how she is managing.”

“Don’t disturb her while she’s asleep. Intha naajooku sthithi alli rest togobeku.”

“Which reminds me.....have you put aside your old sarees for her bed? What about that old silk saree of yours? You never know when the delivery may occur....”

“She walks so slowly these days.....I guess it must be very difficult to manage her increasing bulk.”

At this point, SMV butted in with a “Humph.....what’s there to manage? All she does is eat and sleep.”

And SMR replied with annoying patience, “Dear......just because you belong to a superior race.....”

After listening to all this, my list of wishes to be granted (hopefully) by God has increased by one: I should be born as a cat with SMR as my owner. Or any owner as benevolent as SMR se kaam chalaa loongi...... :)
