It was inky black all around – but a luminous one at that. The night sky was studded with stars, twinkling for all they are worth. The surrounding palm trees rustled with the gentle breeze – a welcoming noise along with the soft roar of the pounding surf.
Water – silvery grey water – miles and miles of it stretching into the horizon where the moon shone with muted brilliance.
I savoured the sensation of the sand slipping away from beneath the soles of my feet. It was as if I was slowly but inexorable in drawn right into the ocean.
I savoured the sensation of the gentle breeze which had which carried the sweet scent of some night-blossoms along with the tangy after-breeze of the ocean.
I savoured the sensation of the fine spray of water on my face.
I savoured the aloneness – around me, and with myself.......
......when I heard a rustle behind me.........
I turned around and my face creased into a soft smile ...... this particular company was definitely welcome.
But wait...... there was something in the upturned palm. A gift?
As I reached to take it....
Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppp!! I snapped out of my day-dream with a jolt. The bus had screeched to a jarring halt, thanks a signal.
I took in the situation around me: my co-passengers grumbling and waking up; collecting some of their stuff which had fallen down due to the sudden lurch; my book lying haphazardly across my lap while I had been staring into the space.
Day-dreaming...... and me?? And that too of beaches? I must be working too hard (guess I need a break..... no... make that - I badly need a break).
However, darned if I did not enjoy every minute of the dream ......... :)!!
