The ‘curse’ thrown by my friend must have been extremely strong since I am now suffering from cough as well. Cold alone is enough to shake the bones out of any individual – cough too?? I sound (and feel) like a manduka in the well – all croaky and sniffely. And I have forgotten when was the last time I ever ‘tasted’ food. To add fuel to the fire, I have a treat lined up this week. Tcha !! And horror of horrers, have a couple of training sessions for the freshers where yours truly will be the center of attraction. Dene wala jab bhi deta………….
Typical reactions from various people:
Mom, being Mom, told me early in the morning (at around 5:30 a.m.), “Why don’t you take the day off?” Well… at that time in the morning, it was a sore temptation. I did not know that I had it in me to overcome it. Hallelujah !!
Dad took one look at my face and declared that I was working too hard. Gawd… was I that bad?
The next person in queue was our bus-driver, “Yen Madam, full kemmu aagythe. Yaake bandri?” (Yen Madam, you have ‘full’ cough. Why did you come?) I was trying to remain sufficiently awake to reply to his question. Fortunately, I was sitting right in the front where I had a large view of the windshield. So, his driving skills ensured that I was on the edge of my seat, and of course, awake, for the rest of the journey.
Ro, Tu and Var were full of concern. And that was because they were concerned that they would get it from me. Yaarrghhh…. Self-centered male chauvinists !! And they were so happy when they came to know that I would no longer be able to sing. Bah !!
The tea-vendor was the only silver lining in the errr.. cloud. One look at me and he declared that his tea will cure me of any type of cold. Cure me of cold, it did not, but it sure helped me get rid of a nagging headache :).
Sniffle … sniffle ….. Achhooooo !! Where is the kerchief when you need one? Cough…. Cough…. !!
