Laughter is the best medicine....indeed

One of the people whom I work with is a truly rigid guy, totally serious and ....erm......quite unsmiling. His way of logically arriving at the right conclusion with the right explanations, albeit in a deadly serious manner, makes him slightly intimidating. Or at least I thought so........

It was one of those days when I wished I there was a mechanism to prevent my eye-lids from simply drooping down and going to sleep. In short, I was tired. I had a yuxtremely busy morning with meetings and work was piling up at a very hectic pace. His was the last meeting I had, and here I was – trying to collect the last vestiges of my heavily drained out energy.

We set off covering all the key-points of the meeting with me sincerely hoping that I would not fall asleep right on his laptop! On and on he droned...... like a soothing bumble bee :-)...... until he pointed out to some flaw in the tool which we were using. He did this in a manner so flourishing that for a while I was taken in. It was then I realised that he was being sarcastic. Such a heavy tool and a most stupid flaw – this seemed to be the message.

I don’t know what set me off..... but I cracked up. Maybe it was a hysterical result of all that pent up stress but I simply could not stop laughing for the next five minutes. Finally, I looked up, wiping tears off my cheeks, with a tiny corner of my brain willing me to become mortified at my lack of control.

Wonder of wonders – he was laughing too.
